Myth 1:

Smoking a cigarette relaxes and relieves stress.

Reality:

Tobacco does not have relaxing properties since it is a stimulant. The apparent feeling of “relief” that comes from smoking a cigarette is due to the suppression of withdrawal symptoms from the lack of nicotine in the brain.

Myth 2:

Low nicotine cigarettes do not harm, they are not carcinogenic.

Reality:

Although low-nicotine and low-tar cigarettes are less harmful, they are often smoked in greater quantities to achieve the same concentration of nicotine in the blood, negating their benefits and the risks similar to those of regular cigarettes.

Myth 3:

Tobacco pollutes, but more so cars and factories, so if we can be victims of environmental pollution, why worry?

Reality:

It should not be forgotten that tobacco is present in a third of all diagnosed cancers, a sufficiently large percentage to take its risks into account.

Myth 4:

I do not depend on tobacco, I can quit whenever I want.

Reality:

Tobacco dependence is difficult to cut and to quit smoking you have to take it very seriously.

Myth 5:

When you stop smoking you have a very bad time, the remedy is worse than the disease.

Reality:

It is true that at first, when you stop smoking, nicotine dependence causes discomfort, but it is a temporary sensation. On the other hand, the benefits are very evident and appear a few days after stopping consumption.

Myth 6:

If you stop smoking, you always get fat.

Reality:

This myth is frequently used to prevent smoking cessation: It is true that smoking entails caloric expenditure by itself, and weight gain may occur after quitting smoking.

Anxiety due to withdrawal symptoms, “snacking” between meals and the improvement in taste and smell when quitting smoking contribute to weight gain.

Myth 7:

Quitting smoking is almost impossible

Reality:

Quitting smoking has its difficulties, as with any other addiction, but with DETOXTABAK it is possible.
